A week of sustainable seafood events, culminating in the FISH! Dinner on June 6. Click here to watch our chefs talk about the importance of sustainable seafood.

Monday, May 31 through Sunday, June 6: Fish! Food
Cooks Confab sponsors a week of prix fixe or sustainable seafood menu items featured at all of their restaurants. The Confab will also invite other like-minded restaurants to join them in serving their own sustainable seafood dishes. Please see our Menu page for a full list of participating restaurants.

Educational materials will be available to all interested diners.

Tuesday, June 1: Fish! Facts
Appetizer Reception 6:30-7:30pm
Lecture and Film 7:30-9:00pm
SOLD OUT! No ticket sales at the door.
Appetizer reception hosted by Chef Andrew Spurgin of Waters Fine Catering, Cooks Confab, and Slow Food Urban San Diego. Featuring Cooks Confab chefs, guest chefs, a video intro by marine ecologist Dr. Jeremy Jackson,* a brief lecture by Nancy Knowlton, PhD, Adjunct Professor of Marine Biology/Director of CMBC, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and a showing of “End of the Line,” a documentary that examines the first-hand effects of the global love affair with fish as food, which premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival.

At each tasting station, you’ll find graduate students in marine biology from Scripps Institution of Oceanography working alongside the chefs to answer questions about the seafood being served and other ocean-related topics. You’ll also find a culinary student paired with each chef to help inspire them to an important element to their budding careers—culinary responsibility. The event wraps up with Q&A.
100% of the proceeds go to Slow Food Urban San Diego.
*Please note that due to a personal emergency, Dr. Jackson will not be present on June 1, 2010.
